Dear Jaguar Families,
We have all worked hard to make it a great start to the school year. I appreciate your partnership as we work together to support your student's needs and achievements.
I am writing today to inform you of a disturbing trend that is being perpetuated on the social media platform, TikTok. Schools across the country, including Hartford and Neosho Rapids, are experiencing vandalism and thefts as part of a social media challenge called the “devious lick challenge”. This social media challenge or trend encourages students to film themselves or other students vandalizing school restrooms and post the videos online.
Whether you allow your student to use social media or not, I encourage you to have a conversation with them about appropriate behavior at school and responsible use of technology. Please let your student know that there are serious consequences for taking part in criminal acts of vandalism and theft. Students that vandalize or steal school property will face disciplinary action as outlined in Board Policy and our Student Handbook. Consequences may include parents/guardians being responsible for restitution for property damages. In addition, students who record, post, or share videos of such behavior may face disciplinary consequences. In addition, our school procedure is to also report theft and property damage to law enforcement.
We thank you for your support in monitoring your student's social media activity and visiting with them about your family's expectations of their behavior on- and off-line. We appreciate your assistance in preventing this destructive behavior so that we may maintain our focus on teaching and learning.
As always, please contact me at school with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Douglas Hes
Principal

Top Ten Things for Jaguars to Know
Back to School Edition
August 18, 2021
Welcome back to for the 2021-22 School Year! If you are reading this on our school webpage, on Facebook, or at Open House, you are preparing for another wonderful year of school at Neosho Rapids and Hartford. Here are 10 things you need to know to make your first days of school the best!
1) We are excited to have you back in school! The staff has done a wonderful job of preparing classes and materials to stretch your capacity for learning. We can’t wait to get started.
2) Covid Note #1- Social Distancing is the key to a successful school year. Mask wearing is highly recommended, but not required unless you have to be or find yourself within 3ft of someone. Please do your part to social distance in your classroom, hallways, and common areas.
3) Covid Note #2- Because masks are required within 3ft of one another, please bring a mask to school even if you don’t intend to wear it. You don’t want to be caught in a situation where you need one and don’t have one available. Masks will need to be worn upon arrival and departure of school if you cannot maintain social distancing.
4) Covid Note #3- If you ride the bus to and/or from school, you are required to wear a mask on the bus. This is a federal requirement.
5) Remember that with school starting, school zones are in effect. Please do not speed by campus, as there will be little (and big) Jaguars heading to school!
6) Don’t forget our Jaguar Expectations! We are KIND, PERSISTENT, RESPONSIBLE, POSITIVE, and CAPABLE.
7) Our doors open to students at 7:30 AM. If you attend HJH/HHS, you will go directly to your first block class and breakfast will be served in the classroom. If you attend NRE, if you would like breakfast you will go to the cafeteria to eat and then go to your classroom. If you do not eat breakfast, you will go straight to your classroom.
8) Parent Pick up and Drop off- At NRE, you will drop off at the main entrance to the school (SW side of the school). There is a drop off lane for parents there. Busses will drop off on the NW side of the school. Pick up will be the same.
9) Come to school ready to learn! Each day brings a new opportunity to learn and expand your knowledge.
10) Remember, it is a great day to be a Jaguar!!

USD 252 Students, Staff, and Patrons:
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! Our staff is eagerly awaiting the arrival of students and is preparing for a year filled with academic success. We appreciate your patience in a changing environment and would like to share information about our COVID mitigation plan.
Last night the USD 252 Board of Education met and approved the changes to our USD 252 COVID Mitigation Plan 2021-22. This is a dynamic document that has changed according to the needs of our district since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Below are highlights of the plan that you need to know for the first day of school and beyond:
USD 252 Masks are highly recommended, but not required, with the following exceptions:
USD 252 staff and students will social distance (3 ft minimum, 6 ft is the goal) where possible by increasing space between students during in-person instruction, understanding that there may be times that it will be necessary to provide close individual contact to provide comfort, private discipline or personal instruction. In instances when social distancing cannot be maintained indoors, masks will be worn. (ex. Cooperative group learning)
As per federal transportation requirements, all USD 252 bus drivers and riders will be required to wear a mask. This includes the use of all USD 252 vehicles to transport students and/or staff.
The district highly recommends that staff and students provide their own mask due to safety precautions. Students should also not share masks or wear a used disposable mask. Masks will be available for those who are unable to provide one, while supplies are available.
All students need to have a mask available for times when social distancing of 3ft or more is not possible. Examples of these times could include passing in the halls, center work, group activities, etc.
Further information for you and your students may be provided at Open House tomorrow from 5:30- 7:00.
The full mitigation plan can be found on our website at www.usd252.org.
