Update: Water Advisory
November 6, 2024 – The City of Emporia continues to address the water quality issues that led to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Boil Water Advisory. Yesterday, City staff successfully located and repaired a mechanical issue and leak at the Water Treatment Plant that contributed to the advisory. Today, teams are working on further reducing turbidity levels and restoring the Ozonation system, which will help address the discoloration and odor currently present in the water supply.
Once repairs are complete, water must filter through the entire system to flush out any affected water. At this time, the City anticipates that Friday would be the soonest the boil water advisory could be lifted, though this timeline remains dependent on achieving KDHE compliance standards.
📢 Attention Patrons:
The district has received an important update today. In addition to the City of Emporia and Lyon County, the following water districts have issued a Boil Water Advisory:
Lyon County RWD 2
City of Hartford
Park Place Communities
Lyon County RWD 4
City of Olpe
Lyon County RWD 5
Coffey County RWD 2E
If your water is supplied by any of these public water systems, please take necessary precautions in your food facility.
The school district has secured enough water to last through the week, if needed. We apologize for the inconvenience, and please stay tuned to media outlets for further updates.
Forms and money are due November 26th to Mrs. Windle

As many of you are likely aware, we are currently under another Boil Water Advisory. The district is working to secure enough water to last us through the week, if necessary. Thank you to Mrs. Garriott for picking up water this morning in Madison and to the 8th grade for helping distribute water to classrooms this morning!
