USD 252 Students, Staff, and Patrons:
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! Our staff is eagerly awaiting the arrival of students and is preparing for a year filled with academic success. We appreciate your patience in a changing environment and would like to share information about our COVID mitigation plan.
Last night the USD 252 Board of Education met and approved the changes to our USD 252 COVID Mitigation Plan 2021-22. This is a dynamic document that has changed according to the needs of our district since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Below are highlights of the plan that you need to know for the first day of school and beyond:
USD 252 Masks are highly recommended, but not required, with the following exceptions:
USD 252 staff and students will social distance (3 ft minimum, 6 ft is the goal) where possible by increasing space between students during in-person instruction, understanding that there may be times that it will be necessary to provide close individual contact to provide comfort, private discipline or personal instruction. In instances when social distancing cannot be maintained indoors, masks will be worn. (ex. Cooperative group learning)
As per federal transportation requirements, all USD 252 bus drivers and riders will be required to wear a mask. This includes the use of all USD 252 vehicles to transport students and/or staff.
The district highly recommends that staff and students provide their own mask due to safety precautions. Students should also not share masks or wear a used disposable mask. Masks will be available for those who are unable to provide one, while supplies are available.
All students need to have a mask available for times when social distancing of 3ft or more is not possible. Examples of these times could include passing in the halls, center work, group activities, etc.
Further information for you and your students may be provided at Open House tomorrow from 5:30- 7:00.
The full mitigation plan can be found on our website at www.usd252.org.

Lyon County is working on validating unsupported or under supported areas of the county for the Rural Broadband project we are working on. If you don’t have broadband to you home please put your address down as no service at this location. If you use a hotspot or jet pack that does not count and the speed test will identify it as a hotspot and mark no service. Below is the link to use. It is also on Lyon county’s website. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Faculty, Staff, & Patrons of USD 252
Thank you for completing a full and challenging year! We appreciate all of you!
I want to fill you in on information regarding my assistance at Madison next year.
School districts are required to employ a district level licensed Superintendent. Madison is transitioning Stephen Jowers into the Superintendent position, but Stephen does not currently hold a district level license. To receive a professional license at the district level, a person must hold a district level position for a year (practicum/internship) prior to being issued a professional license. I will fill the role as an interim/mentor and be present for Board meetings at Madison. Stephen will run the day to day business at Madison. If I need to go to Madison during a school day, Madison will pay related expenses to USD 252. I plan to be present at USD 252 next year, while supporting Mr. Jowers with his new responsibilities.
In our district, Mr. Clark is also working on his district level license and is required to have a district level position for a school calendar year. I will support and encourage Mr. Clark to finish his district level license.
If anyone in our district is looking at building or district level leadership opportunities/additional licensure areas, please let me know. Our pool of applicants at all levels across the state continues to be smaller. We need good people leading our buildings and school districts!
Thank you - Have a great day/summer!
Dr. Argabright
