I’m excited to announce that the Olpe Stadium will be open this coming Monday for community use from before school hours until around dark each day.
This incredible facility is much more than just a football field. The turf and track create a tremendous outdoor space for walking, exercise, training, and organized activities for students and community members alike. USD 252 is proud to provide a facility that we hope people of all ages will enjoy for years to come.
At this time, the main gate in the southwest corner will be unlocked each morning and locked each evening by school personnel until security cameras are installed, which we hope will be completed by mid-June.
Please note that the track team will be practicing at the facility through the end of May. During practice times, we ask community members to please stay off the track and be respectful of team practices and activities.
As we open the stadium to the public, we ask everyone to help us take care of it:
*No food, gum, or sunflower seeds on the turf.
*
No bikes, skateboards, or pets allowed inside the stadium at any time.
*Please clean up after yourself.
*Children should be supervised.
This is not intended to be an unsupervised playground, but rather a place for organized activities, exercise, and community enjoyment.
I'm extremely thankful to everyone who helped make this project possible and look forward to seeing our students and communities enjoy this beautiful facility.

USD 252 is exploring summer learning opportunities to support students in reading and math and is in the process of applying for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant. The 21st CCLC grant provides funding for extended learning opportunities, including academic support, enrichment activities, and family engagement beyond the regular school day. We are asking families to share their perspective on student needs and the potential benefits of a summer program. Your input will help guide planning and strengthen our grant application to better serve students and families. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your thoughts and support our schools.

Due to the negative morning temperatures and dangerous windchills, along with more than 15% of our students being called in sick last Friday, Southern Lyon County will have no school or daycare tomorrow, January 26. I hope this extra day gives everyone additional time to get well.
Please stay warm and safe.
