Lab Work

Hartford/Neosho Rapids Principal Communication April 26, 2020

Good evening! It’s hard to believe, but by the end of this next week we will be into the month of May! Our seniors only have about 2 ½ weeks left, while all other students are down to just 4 weeks before summer vacation hits.

With the end of the year winding down, we are working through how to manage typical end of the year tasks in a new environment. Many of the scheduled activities that lead up to the end of school have been canceled.  However, we continue to look for ways to recognize and celebrate our students’ achievements.

This past Friday, the USD 252 administrative team met with administrators from North Lyon County Emporia Schools and Lyon County Health, and Law Enforcement to discuss end of the year events such as graduation and prom. It was determined that any graduation gathering or activity will not be allowed to take place prior to June 1. As a result, we are gathering information from our seniors and their parents through a survey to determine how best to honor our graduates and provide some finality for our seniors and their parents.

Based on what we currently know, it is unlikely that graduation as we know it in a traditional sense, will be allowed to take place in June or July. As a result, it is possible that we will have to plan an alternative graduation and diploma presentation.

The 2020 Prom that was originally scheduled for this April has also been a topic of conversation for our administrative team. We again met with area district administrators to discuss plans and options. Our juniors and seniors and their parents will also receive a survey to help us determine a direction moving forward.

Public health safety continues to be a priority in our county and we will continue to advocate for our students so that we can provide the best possible experience for them, while following the guidance and restrictions from county officials.

Just a reminder to all of our families – our district provides meals for students with our Grab ‘n Go curbside pickup from 11:00-12:30 each day. To sign up, please complete the survey that is available on our Facebook page. The survey has also been emailed to all families.

During these last few weeks, it will be important for our students to finish strong. Continue to encourage participation and engagement. Our teachers are working hard to provide the best possible experience possible. We appreciate your support. Please contact me at if you have any questions. Thanks, have a great week and stay safe! And as always, it is a great day to be a Jaguar!
