Dear Hartford and Neosho Rapids Parent(s):
Over the summer months, we have been working hard to develop a plan to safely bring our students back to campus this year. I hope you and your families have been able to navigate the new normal created by the response to the Coronavirus. Part of this new normal will include some significant changes to our enrollment process.
Enrollment will be on Monday, August 3 from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Please enter on the south side of the Hartford campus near the new gym. We have put in extra efforts to make the enrollment as safe and efficient as possible for everyone. As a result, we are asking that only one parent/guardian complete the enrollment process. Additional safety precautions include:
• Requiring parents and staff to wear masks
• Temperature checks of both staff and parents
• Health screening completed
• Social distancing
Parents may opt for remote learning for their child in lieu of in person instruction. In those cases, parents are asked to meet with Mr. Hes to review the expectations and requirements.
Free/reduced meal applications are available online at www.usd252.org or can be completed at enrollment.
Schedules for junior high and high school students will be available to view online the day of enrollment. Students will simply log into the Infinite Campus portal. A copy of the schedule will be provided at enrollment with a schedule change sheet. Schedules were developed in the spring during our pre-enrollment process. Several classes are full as efforts have been made to limit class sizes to promote greater social distancing. If a schedule change is requested, parents/students will need to complete the schedule change sheet and return via email, mail, or drop off. All schedule changes are pending approval by Mr. Hes.
We will NOT be checking out laptops during enrollment. Students will be issued their computer on the first day of school.
Juniors or seniors planning to enroll in dual credit classes through FHTC must complete the online application (information will be available at enrollment). Tuition and fees for these classes must be paid by the first day of class – This is an FHTC policy. Please make checks payable to USD 252. The following courses will be offered:
Fall College Speech (online) ($300 – no textbook fee) – Juniors or Seniors English Composition I ($300 + $25 textbook fee) – Seniors Only
Spring English Composition II ($300 – no fee if rented for Comp I) – Seniors Only College Algebra ($300 + $50 textbook fee) – Seniors Only * Students may purchase the textbook from another vendor and waive the rental fee. Textbook rental fees are paid to USD 252.
Enrollment paperwork is being developed this year and will not be available prior to enrollment. If you should have a conflict with enrollment times, please call the office at 620-392-5515 to schedule a time to enroll.
Last night in a special board meeting, the USD 252 Board voted to approve a recommendation to begin school on August 25th. More information will follow in the days to come.
