Good evening! The month of May is upon us and with it means that we are just weeks away from closing out the school year. While not the ending to a school year we had hoped, we are glad that we have had the opportunity to continue to deliver instruction and maintain a connection with your child.

In a special board meeting this past Thursday, our board discussed the possibilities and uncertainties surrounding graduation and prom. From my seat, the most important discussions and planning are focused on graduation, as they should be. I want nothing more than for our seniors to experience as close to a traditional graduation as possible; not only to share the experience with their family and classmates, but also to formally close this chapter of their lives before they move on to their next adventures.

Our board and administration will continue to monitor this unprecedented situation and cooperate with our county health department to make the best decisions possible. As of now, things are still undecided, but I wanted to share with you that our seniors have and continue to have a place in my and their teacher’s hearts.

Last week, we emailed our second survey during our continuous learning delivery to parents, staff and students. We appreciate the feedback and will use it to make adjustments if necessary. If you haven’t completed the survey, please do so as soon as possible.

Pre-enrollment surveys will be sent out to our students in grades 8-11 later this week. Please encourage your son or daughter to complete the survey as soon as possible so that we can finalize our line schedule and begin to develop individual student schedules for next year.

We continue to provides meals for students with our Grab ‘n Go curbside pickup from 11:00-12:30 each day. To sign up, please complete the survey that is available on our Facebook page.  Motivational speaker Gary Ryan Blair said “It’s not the first, but the last step in the race…the last shot in the basket, the last volley in tennis, the last swing of the bat that makes the lasting difference…for that is where the game is won and that is why you must always finish strong.” As we move in to the last weeks of continuous learning, finishing strong is extremely important. We know that the first 6 weeks of continuous learning have been challenging, but at the same time successful and that students and parents are getting excited to take a break. With only 3 weeks left, our teachers are going to try to give your child the best learning experiences they can. They are genuinely concerned with each child’s academic progress. Continue to encourage your child to complete work, attend online sessions and reach out to teachers for help if needed. We appreciate your continued support!
