Elementary Morning Class Schedule Change Begins April 20

After reviewing survey data from parents, students, and staff of USD 252, I am so proud of my staff and students for helping make this continuous learning plan successful in these uncertain times. The feedback that we received was overwhelmingly positive and a testament to how much our staff, parents, and students work together in this district. We appreciate the feedback and the information it provides us in our decision making going forward.

One adjustment that we are making is that, beginning Monday April 20, we will stagger our morning elementary class times. The data shows that this is what our parents and staff believe would be best for our students. Having classes staggered will alleviate some internet issues by having fewer students on at one time and will allow parents/caregivers with multiple children to assist during each child’s class session if they are available.

Beginning Monday, our morning elementary class schedule will be:

9-9:20 Pre-K

9-9:45 Kindergarten and 1st Grade

9:30-10:30 2nd and 3rd Grade

10:00-11:35 4th and 5th Grade

Our afternoon class schedule will remain the same with the exception being that Pre-K will be from 1:00-1:20.

Office hours for teachers will be adjusted accordingly and communicated to you by your child’s teacher.

We understand that many students and families are settling into routines and this will cause a temporary disruption to those routines, but we believe that this change will provide a better learning structure for our students for the rest of the year.

In addition, in the days ahead, we will be reviewing some of the concerns, suggestions, and/or frustrations that parents and students left in the comment section so that we can continue to address and adapt to opportunities as they arise.

Thank you for your time and remember, every day is a great day to be a Jaguar!
