Welcome to Olpe Elementary
"Where Young Minds Take Flight"
Olpe Elementary School is located in Olpe, Kansas. Our school is part of the Southern Lyon County School District, USD 252. We have approximately 140 students and are proud to offer our students one-on-one attention that will help them grow and reach their full potential.
Our school continues its long tradition of high ratings, receiving the "Building Standard of Excellence" in both reading and math again this year. Olpe Elementary is a past winner of the presitigious Governor's Achievement Award, honoring the top-performing schools in the state of Kansas.
Budget Cuts Due to major budget cuts from the state and declining enrollment, our school district is facing unprecedented changes for next year. On Wednesday, January 27 the USD 252 school board met to consider the options for reorganizing our school district next year. They came to a consensus to move forward with option 2 (keeping all building open, but cutting staff to a minimum). Option 1 (moving Neosho Rapids Elementary students to Hartford High) will be the next step if option 1 doesn't save enough money. For more details about the plan, click here to read the minutes of the January 27 board meeting. The next board meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. February 10 at Hartford. |
